Brent was diagnosed with Post Concussion Syndrome after suffering concussions while playing rugby. After seeking help from different doctors with little relief, he turned to Equipping Minds for help. He saw results within three weeks.Below is a full transcript of the video:
Hello, everybody. My name is Brent. I’m making this video from San Diego, California, and I’d like to talk to you a little bit about my experience with post-concussion syndrome. So when I was 18, I received a head injury in a rugby game, and instead of taking the proper amount of time off to heal, I came back a little too soon. I pushed myself and overexerted myself, and my symptoms just did not seem to be going away. I had concussions in the past and after about a month of resting, I felt fine. But in this case, the longer I waited, the worse I seemed to get.
I went to do the best doctors in the San Francisco Bay Area and got a CAT scan, nothing showed up on my brain so the doctors basically told me I was fine and that I would just have to wait it off or that I could take antidepressants to alleviate some of the symptoms, but that they could basically do nothing for me. This was very discouraging considering that I felt foggy. I had very poor memory. I felt fatigued all the time. It took me a long time to get my gears going in the morning. I had very low energy. And to hear that I would just have to wait it off after about three months of already doing that was incredibly discouraging.
So it basically sent me on this track to find the right type of treatments. I tried everything from acupuncture to different chiropractic methods, and nothing seemed to be working. So this happened when I was 18 and for about 4 years, I just was looking for the right treatments and spending thousands of dollars for different methods and to all the same effect. I just kind of went in optimistic and then went out even more pessimistic about my healing. For a year, I actually just kind of gave up and I accepted the fact that I would have to live with this for the rest of my life.
That was a very hard time, but fortunately, I found Equipping Minds and I talked to Carol Brown, the director, and I had a very good conversation with her because she really assured me that she’s helped people with my condition before. This was something I had not experienced. A lot of the medical professionals I went to just kind of said, “We can give it a shot and we might be able to help you, we might not be able to help you.” But Carol was so determined and so confident in her curriculum and in her program that I just thought I had to give it a shot. So I’m so glad I did.
I’ve been working with Clayton Brown, Carol’s son, for about five months now, and within the first three weeks of their program, I saw tremendous differences in my ability to process information and read and my overall energy levels, and from there on out, it’s just been a great experience. I’m at a point now where I feel like I have most of my functions back. I’m exercising again. I can read. I love to learn again. I can enjoy being outside without feeling symptomatic, like how I did before, and it’s really made all the difference in my life. So I really can’t thank Equipping Minds enough for what they’ve done for me.
One thing I want to stress is that it’s not an overnight fix. You really have to put the time in. You really have to put the work in, and there’s multiple dimensions of this treatment. But I can assure you that if you do the work and if you’re diligent, you will see positive changes in your life, and I really can’t thank Carol and Clayton enough. So thank you, guys. I hope this helps. I know how stressful it is being in this situation and I hope I can offer some help for you. So thank you very much and thanks for watching.
