Multidisciplinary Cognitive Development Approach

Equipping Minds trains educators, therapists, parents, and other specialists in a multidisciplinary approach that increases anyone’s capacity to learn. This training focuses on implementing Equipping Minds during the school day in both small- and large-group settings, as well as individual implementation.

The Research Behind Equipping Minds’ Holistic Approach

• Explore the science of neuroplasticity and the brain’s ability to change

• Review Dr. Brown’s research and case studies

• Learn how Equipping Minds improves behavior and self-regulation

• Discussion of Dr. Brown’s recent chapter in School Violence and Primary Prevention

Curriculum Overview, Classroom Materials, and IEP Goals

• Review real lesson plans used in schools

• Watch classroom implementation videos

• Learn how to implement the curriculum across the school day during the two-day training

• Examine IEP goals and interventions

Brown 6–9 N-Back for Executive Functioning

Dr. Carol Brown developed the Brown Six–Nine N-Back, an adaptive N-back program using nine tasks. Learners associate:

• Animals, letters, vowels, numbers, presidents, and sounds

• With symbols and colors

• While identifying directions (left, right, up, down)

Foundations for Intelligent Thinking

• Learn Aristotle’s Ten Categories

• Use Socratic questioning to build comprehension and critical thinking

Primitive Reflexes, Visual & Auditory Processing

• Learn about seven primitive reflexes, their symptoms, and integration strategies

• Practice reflex exercises for recess, gym class, and the classroom

Trauma-Informed Approaches

• Understand how trauma and stress impact behavior, learning, communication, and social skills
